[3] pastoral care and culsultation, and [4] the empowerment of individuals and institutions in the enterprise and the proactice of ministry.  We practice a philosophy of respect for and value of all of God's people as having worth and meaning.  We commit ourselves to fostering the well being of all people, and especially the marginal and pewerless people of society. through the principles of honesty, justice, and benevolence.

We do not expect to save the world; however we recognize that many people desire of benefits of pastoral care and the belonging that comes in a worshiping community.  We try to address thtese needs through a process of theoretical education and hands-on experience in pastoral care.  Using the process of Spiritual Alignment (AS), we address the issues of spiritual and personal development and pastoral care, be referring Associates to a variety of churches and agencies which are dedicated to serving the poor and needy, the homeless, the addicted, those living with HIV/AIDS and other debilitating situations.  It is not just this population that we are called by God to serve; we also serve the elderly, feeable, and those challenged by constant chages of life.  Our Associates cover clinical settings which often cannot aford the cost of pastoral care, but when which are eager to receive the presence and relationship of the Associates.

History of APECCS

APECCS, formerly an Intercultural Associates for Missions and Ministries (IAMM) was founded in February 2000 by the Rev. Dr. Urias H. Beverly and eight other people who agreed to be on its Board of Directors.  The IAMM Satellite was established through the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) in 2003, through a cooperative effort of Urias Beverly, D.Min. and Bonnie Woods, RSM.  In November 2003, ACPE recognized IAMM as an official Satellite of DMC.  After five years of service, the name of the center was changed from IAMM to APECCS.  The purpose of the name change was to address more directly the service that is being provided by the center.
